Turnaround Schools: Why My 12-Course Series Matters for Leaders

Writer: John HindsJohn Hinds

Brick wall with a u-turn arrow pointing right and the word "turnaround" on top

A few days ago, I wrapped up my 12-course series on turning around struggling schools. That’s over nine hours of real, practical content designed for campus leaders who don’t have time for fluff. (Click here for the PDF describing my School Turnaround Series.)

But here’s the truth: about halfway through this project, I realized I needed to find another gear to get the job done. This wasn’t just another set of trainings. It was a playbook for survival—for principals and school leaders thrown into tough situations with no clear roadmap.

Leading a Turnaround School Is Your Responsibility—Own It

If you’re leading a struggling campus, you do not have the luxury of waiting for things to magically improve. You have to own this. You have to make decisions. You cannot sit in your office and hope things get better.

  • Your teachers are waiting for direction.

  • Your students need a better system.

  • Your district expects results.

I built these courses to give you the tools to take action. They aren’t about theories or philosophies—they’re about getting your school on track, one system at a time.

What are My Next Steps for Helping Leaders of Turnaround Schools?

Now that the courses are done, I’m pushing hard to get this into the hands of the right people. Here’s what’s coming:

  1. A School Turnaround Workbook – This takes the course content and turns it into a real-world action plan—because watching a course is one thing, but implementing change is another.

  2. Live Training & Speaking Engagements – Because sometimes, you need more than a course—you need someone to walk you through it.

  3. A Conference? – I’m considering pulling off a high-level training event for leaders who actually want results. No motivational speeches. No fluff. Just data, instruction, and real-world strategies. I hope I can make it happen.

Lead with Purpose: Make Decisions That Matter for Your Campus

Finishing this series wasn’t about checking a box. It was about creating something that matters. Something that will actually help school leaders move the needle instead of spinning their wheels.

If you’re leading a struggling campus, this is your moment. Step up. Take action. Make the decisions your school needs. And if you’re serious about doing that, let’s talk.

Because this work is too important to get wrong.
